Introducing Intuit Sport: A Different Approach to Pickleball Equipment

Today, we are introducing Intuit Sport.

The idea behind the company came from a simple question: can pickleball equipment be built better, priced more thoughtfully, and developed with more direct input from serious players?

My background is in competitive racquet sports. I began playing tennis at age five, competed in ITF professional events as a teenager, became a highly ranked Southern California USTA junior, and later played NCAA Division I tennis.

That experience gave me an early understanding of how much equipment matters.

Players notice small differences. They notice balance, feel, and how a racquet or paddle responds under pressure. Over time, those details become the difference between equipment that simply looks good and equipment that a player actually trusts.

Why Pickleball

After years in competitive tennis, pickleball initially started as something recreational for me.

But the more time I spent around the sport, the more interested I became in the equipment side. I started looking closely at paddle construction, materials, manufacturing methods, pricing, and how different products actually performed on court.

One thing became clear: the price of a paddle did not always seem to reflect the quality of its materials, construction, or performance.

That created an opportunity.

I believed there was room to build products that took performance seriously while also questioning unnecessary cost. That became the foundation for Intuit Sport.

By the time Intuit Sport was taking shape, my former college tennis teammate Jericho Grollman had started playing pickleball more seriously and wanted to see how far he could take the sport, with the goal of competing professionally.

Jericho and I had been teammates during our time in Temple University’s NCAA Division I tennis program, so we already shared an understanding of high-level racquet sports, competition, and equipment.

Jericho was looking for a sponsor, and because we were already building a pickleball equipment company, the relationship felt like a natural fit.

We decided to sponsor Jericho, but I did not want the relationship to be limited to simply putting our name on a player.

I wanted him involved in product development from the beginning, testing prototypes, evaluating changes, giving us direct feedback, and helping us understand what competitive players actually wanted from a paddle.

That gave us another way to connect product development directly to what was happening on court.

Product First

Our priority is simple: the product has to perform.

That means focusing on the things players actually experience when they step on court: materials, construction, weight, balance, feel, control, power, and durability.

Those details matter more to us than simply creating something that looks good on a product page.

We want to understand why a paddle performs the way it does, how changes in construction affect what the player feels, and what can be improved from one prototype to the next.

Built With Players

Player feedback is going to be an important part of how we develop Intuit Sport products.

We are working with competitive players to test equipment, evaluate prototypes, and tell us what works and what does not.

Jericho is part of that process. Rather than simply giving him a finished paddle and asking him to use it, we want him involved in testing different versions, evaluating changes, and giving us direct feedback from training and competition.

Specifications alone cannot tell the entire story. A paddle may look right on paper but feel completely different once the pace increases.

That is why we want development to happen on the court as much as it happens during manufacturing.

Our goal is to combine what we learn from materials, construction, and manufacturing with what players actually experience in real play.

Questioning the Cost of Equipment

We are also interested in the economics behind pickleball equipment.

We do not believe the goal should simply be to make the cheapest paddle possible. Performance still has to come first.

But we do believe players should understand what they are paying for.

If additional cost improves construction, durability, materials, or performance, that makes sense. If it does not, we think it is worth questioning.

That philosophy extends to how we operate as a company.

We do not want customers paying for bloated overhead, unnecessary office space, oversized marketing budgets, or other costs that do not make the product better.

We would rather stay lean and put resources into product development, testing, materials, manufacturing, quality control, and the players helping us improve our equipment.

We are not interested in spending heavily simply to create the appearance of a bigger company. We would rather put those resources into building a better product.

Our goal is simple: invest where the product benefits and remove cost where it does not.

The Right Product at the Right Price

For us, value does not mean being the cheapest option.

It means making sure the price of the product is supported by what actually goes into it.

Better materials should matter. Better construction should matter. Better durability should matter. Better performance should matter.

Large marketing budgets, unnecessary overhead, and inflated operating costs should not be the reason a paddle becomes more expensive.

We want to create the best paddle we can at the right price and remain disciplined about where the customer’s money actually goes.

Just Getting Started

Intuit Sport is still at the beginning. We are learning, testing, and developing.

We know the products will continue to evolve as we get more information from players and spend more time understanding the sport.

We are not trying to pretend we have every answer on day one.

We would rather build carefully, listen closely, test constantly, and improve continuously.

The principle behind Intuit Sport is straightforward:

Start with the product. Build with players. Question unnecessary costs. Create the best equipment we can at the right price.
