From Junior PPA to the Pro Level: Hridhay Pothunoori’s Rise With Intuit Sport

Hridhay Pothunoori represented Intuit Sport during 2025 and 2026 while developing into one of the leading junior players in competitive pickleball.

When we began working with Hridhay, he was already competing at a high level in the Junior PPA system and showing the kind of progression we look for in an athlete: strong results, a serious approach to competition, and the ability to keep improving as the level around him increased.

Over the next two seasons, he would move from elite junior competition into professional qualifying and main-draw events while competing with Intuit Sport equipment.

Establishing Himself at the Junior Level

Hridhay built his reputation through the Junior PPA circuit, where he competed against some of the strongest young players in the country.

He reached the upper tier of the Junior PPA standings and earned an invitation to the CIBC Junior PPA Finals, an event reserved for the top junior players in its respective divisions.

At the Finals, Hridhay earned silver in U14 singles and silver in U16 doubles, adding another important result to his junior career.

For us, those results mattered, but so did the environment in which they were earned.

Junior PPA competition gave Hridhay regular exposure to tournament pressure, different opponents, and the expectation that his equipment had to perform consistently over multiple matches.

Growing With Intuit Sport

Hridhay competed with Intuit Sport equipment throughout his time representing the company.

That gave us another opportunity to see our products used by a player whose game and competitive level were developing quickly.

As Hridhay improved, the demands placed on the equipment increased with him.

Points became faster.

Opponents became stronger.

Matches became more physical and more tactical.

That progression is valuable from a product-development perspective because it allows us to see how equipment performs as a player moves through different levels of competition.

We were not simply watching a junior athlete use our paddles.

We were watching the demands on those paddles evolve alongside the athlete.

Moving Into Professional Competition

By 2025, Hridhay had begun testing himself beyond junior competition.

He entered PPA professional qualifying, competing for the opportunity to move into pro-level draws.

That was an important step.

Professional pickleball creates a very different competitive environment. The pace is higher, margins become smaller, and players have far less room for inconsistency.

By 2026, Hridhay had progressed further, competing in PPA Challenger professional main-draw events in both singles and doubles.

The transition from Junior PPA competition to professional main draws is exactly the kind of progression we hoped to see when we began working together.

Equipment Has to Grow With the Player

One of the most interesting parts of athlete development is that the equipment requirements change as the player improves.

What feels stable at one level may feel different as ball speed increases.

What provides enough control in junior competition may be tested differently against professional players.

What feels comfortable during practice has to remain dependable after several tournament matches.

Working with developing athletes gives us another perspective on product performance.

Hridhay’s progression allowed Intuit Sport equipment to be tested across multiple stages of competitive play, from elite junior events to the professional level.

That is valuable information for us.

More Than Results

Results are easy to measure.

Rankings move.

Medals accumulate.

Players advance into stronger draws.

But athlete development is rarely a straight line.

What impressed us about Hridhay was the willingness to continue competing, learning, and moving into environments where the level became increasingly difficult.

That mentality aligns closely with how we think about Intuit Sport.

Every higher level exposes something new.

For a player, it exposes weaknesses in the game.

For an equipment company, it exposes weaknesses in the product.

Both have to adapt.

From Junior PPA to the Pro Level

Hridhay’s time with Intuit Sport represents an important part of our athlete program.

He joined us as one of the stronger junior players in the sport and continued progressing until he was competing in professional events against increasingly experienced competition.

Throughout that progression, he competed with Intuit Sport equipment.

For us, that is what an athlete partnership should look like.

Not simply placing a logo next to a player’s name, but building a relationship where the player, the competition, and the equipment are all being tested together.

From Junior PPA competition to the professional level, Hridhay kept moving forward.
